Ginebra returns to PBA finals after burying NorthPort in Game 4
Barangay Ginebra is set to make a return trip to the Finals following a masterful victory over the NorthPort Batang Pier, 120-107, in Game 4 of the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup semifinals at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum Friday night.
After a demoralizing 34-point loss in the series opener, the Gin Kings bounced back by sweeping the next three games in a blowout fashion to book a finals seat in the said tournament for the third time in four seasons.
Ginebra now awaits the winner of the other series where TNT currently holds a 2-1 series advantage over the Bolts.
Ginebra got off to a strong start once again, but had to survive the Batang Pier’s third-quarter storm behind Paolo Taha who poured in 21 of his career-high 29 points in the said quarter.
But NorthPort’s comeback attempt was short-lived, as the Gin Kings restored order come the final frame, applying the finishing touches behind the hot hands of Justin Brownlee and LA Tenorio to wrap up the best-of-five affair, 3-1.
