Gilas Pilipinas may have booted out of the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Belgrade, Serbia, but for big man Kai Sotto, there is no better way to learn than to experience it yourself.
The Philippine men’s national basketball team failed to advance to the next round of the tournament after falling to world no. 5 Serbia and Dominican Republic, which is ranked number 19.
But those setbacks will provide a lot of take-home lessons not just for the 7-foot-3 center but also for the whole Gilas team.
On Friday, enthusiastic Sotto posted on his social media account and bared how grateful he was for being part of the national team.
“It’s either you win or you learn. This time, learned a lot of things and that’s a win for me. Grateful for this experience and thankful to be part of this amazing team.”
In their back-to-back games in OQT, Sotto averaged 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.0 steals.
