NLEX Road Warriors recovered from a 26-point deficit to complete an epic comeback against the Magnolia Hotshots, 86-85, in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup on Sunday night at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
Jericho Cruz rescued the Road Warriors in the clutch, hitting a miracle game-winner off a miss from JP Erram, who secured the offensive rebound after Kiefer Ravena missed the last of his two free throws.
As a result, the Road Warriors improved to 8-1 to solidify their grip of first place and have now clinched a twice-to-beat edge in the quarterfinals.
Import Mike Harris scored 22 points for NLEX, including a booming triple to tie things up at 83, answering Paul Lee’s own three the possession before. JR Quiñahan added 14 points for the Road Warriors while Cruz finished with 13 points to cap his heroic effort for the win.
Paul Lee led the way for the defending champions with 24 markers, while Ian Sangalang and Romeo Travis added 19 and 13 respectively, in a losing effort as the Hotshots dropped to sixth place with a 5-5 record.
