Rain or Shine arrests skid with rout of Blackwater
Rain or Shine Elasto Painters snapped out of its rut after crushing the Blackwater Elite, 99-82, in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup on Wednesday at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
Ending a four-game losing streak, the Elasto Painters improved to 2-5 to keep their flickering playoff hopes alive.
Behind its new import in Kwame Alexander, ROS doubled up on the Elite in the fourth quarter, using a searing 30-15 rampage to pull away for good.
The new Rain or Shine reinforcement wound up with an all-around showing of 17 points, 16 rebounds, three assists, three steals, and a block, while Rey Nambatac had a team-high 18 points, along with seven rebounds and seven assists.
Beau Belga finished with 17 points and five rebounds as he got fouled out with 3:37 left in the game, while Ed Daquioag chipped in 13 markers.
Meanwhile, Bobby Ray Parks Jr. set the pace for Blackwater with 27 points and 11 rebounds, Marqus Blakely produced 21 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, four steals, and two blocks, while Mike Cortez supplied 16 markers, five boards, three dimes, and a steal in a losing effort as the Elite had the same 2-5 win-loss card, forming a three-way tie at ninth with Rain or Shine and Phoenix in the team standings.
