Blackwater Elite took advantage of an import-less Magnolia Hotshots side, picking up a 95-89 win in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup on Wednesday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
The Elite had the driver’s seat most of the way, squashing Magnolia’s repeated rallies to return to the winning column and improve to 2-3.
Import Marqus Blakely had an all-around game in his return, finishing with 21 points, 13 rebounds, five steals, three assists, and a block in over 30 minutes of play, as he got enough contribution from the Blackwater locals.
Mac Belo supplied 20 points and three assists for the Elite, while Mike Digregorio and Rabeh Al-Hussaini added 15 and 12 points respectively in the win.
Playing without import Romeo Travis, who suffered an ankle injury last Friday in their match against San Miguel, Paul Lee carried the scoring cudgels for Magnolia with 26 points alongside eight assists in a losing effort as they dropped to their second straight loss for a 3-3 slate.
