Timely Jeron Teng return fuels Alaska past Rain or Shine
Alaska Aces finally broke into the win column, slipping past the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 78-71, in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup on Sunday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Ending a winless streak, the Aces thus tied their victim’s win-loss record at 1-5, as they extended the Elasto Painters’ losing run to four games.
Jeron Teng made a timely return from a hamstring injury and did not disappoint, finishing with 18 points, nine rebounds, and two assists, including an inbound pass to a cutting Jvee Casio that resulted in an easy layup, giving the Aces a comfortable 76-70 lead with only 17.7 seconds left.
Alaska import Franko House had 22 points and 23 rebounds, while Simon Enciso and Vic Manuel added nine markers apiece in the win.
Kayel Locke led Rain or Shine with 25 points, while Mark Borboran and Ed Daquioag added nine each in a lost cause as Rain or Shine stayed at the bottom part of the team standings.
